Jodie wins because it is upbeat, playful, and doesn't remind me of things that need to be carried.

This isn't super helpful, but I think I like them about both equally. I think either is a fine choice.

They're both cute in a mild sort of way. I'd pick Jodi, but I really don't like the e on the end. Jodi is just a bit more cheerful and lively than Carrie.

I knew a Josephine at school who went by Jodie; she was rather unmemorable. And my first daughter was Caroline, which never shortened to Carrie or anything else, but I can't think of Carrie being short for anything else.

Jodie. I know more of them (it's slightly dated here) but at least it's got more character than Carrie, probably because of the hard consonant sounds throughout.

Jodie - it sounds stronger, sharper, and more intelligent. For some reason, Carrie seems like a shy and cowardly name, and the association with the fictional character isn't very flattering.

I love them both. If I had to choose I"d go with Carrie. It's a bit more versatile.
