Help[Opinions] Maisie vs. Marguerite
Given only the two options, which form of Margaret would you choose:
Maisie or Marguerite?
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on (and combos incorporating) these two names, both of which I support.

I prefer Marguerite.
Maisie is a member of the "nicknames beginning with m and ending in an ee sound" that I'm not a fan of - think Millie, Minnie, or Molly. They sound childish and insubstantial to me. Some middle names I'd pair with Maisie are:
Maisie Cordelia
Maisie Rosamund
Maisie Vivian
I'm not a big fan of Marguerite either, but I prefer it to both Margaret and Maisie, and I adore Margot. Some middle names I'd pair with Marguerite are:
Marguerite Anna
Marguerite Clara

Definitely Maisie. It's more pleasant, nice to look at and also soft on the ears. Marguerite on the other sounds harsh and unpleasant and also makes me think of the alcoholic drink, margarita made from tequila.

Yeah that's the one thing (outside the harshness as you said) I don't like about it. I like the name Brandy and I think Rosé sounds sweet, but naming kids with a name strongly associated with an alcoholic beverage is not a good move
(I understand why Rosé is used, it sounds super nice and I'd heavily consider it myself if it were not an alcoholic drink, but there's just some words that shouldn't be used as names, no matter how cute and pretty they sound)

I don't like Marguerite at all, and while I think Maisie is a bit overly cutesy (though I like it) I think I'd prefer to choose Maisie. Maisie, while a bit nicknameish at least has the benefit of sounding normal where I'm from

I think that they can't be compared as Marguerite is a full name while Maisie a diminutive.
You can compare Marguerite with Mairead or also Maisie with Margot.
I agree with you: I like both names but with a different usage. I would use Marguerite as first name while Maisie could be a diminutive of somethimg or also a middle name with a more complete first name.
Later I will post the combos ^^

I respect your assertion that you'd rather categorize certain names in a specific, stringent way regarding their derivatives, though I certainly "can" and DO and DID compare Maisie and Marguerite in my prior post! Dictating to other writers what they can and cannot do or say when they are expressing themselves harmlessly is unsupportive. Thanks.

marguerite, definitely. It's a beautiful name. Maisie sounds like either a kitchen maid or a poodle.
