[Opinions] Re: Suri
I hated it the minute they announced it. It reminds me of “the Surrey with the Fringe on Top”. It also takes a very special name ending in an “ee” sound to convince me it will age well, and I’m not quite there with Suri.Suri Cruise hasn’t done anything in her life (yet) to call negative attention to herself, and yet the name is still distinctive enough to be linked to her. Just for existing. And honestly, that’s because most people thought the name was pretty weird (and her parents’ antics, but most people don’t know the names of other kooky celebrities’ kids off the top of their head). I know it’s a name with a lot of history, but I feel like that history has been lost in favour of the more common, usable Sarah.

I think Tom Cruise is weird, and I thought it was weird when Katie Holmes married him, but I never thought the name Suri was weird. Off the beaten path, sure, but not bizarre. Maybe it's just me.

I remember all kinds of jokes about it when she was born. Maybe it was only because people missed making fun of Apple Martin’s name since it had been a couple of years, but people definitely called it weird.

Yeah, it's not commonly selected but it follows many fashion trends.
