Hank and Velma welcomed two more children before Hank’s premature death three years ago. Velma battled depression for a long time following her husband’s death, worrying about the future of the farm and that of her children, especially her young son who will have no memories of his father. It was Hank’s younger brother Alvin who decided to step up and took the responsibility for the family farm and providing for his brother’s wife and children. He left his good paying job in the city and returned back to his family farm that he now runs together with his father.
Clyde is still living in Canada and causing trouble. Despite loving his wife deeply, he was never entirely faithful to her. Emmanuelle was turning a blind eye to his escapades for the longest time, but only until that one time when he got someone else pregnant. They were divorced rather quickly and Clyde was forced to marry the girl who only months later gave him a son.
Greta and Archie were through the years seemingly unaffected by the family drama happily living away from it in the small Minnesotan town. Julia is now no longer an only child but was through the years joined by two younger sisters, much to Greta’s relief. Although she feels a little pang of sadness every time someone mentions that she never gave Archie a son.
After joining the army, Norman was deployed to Europe barely two years later where he fought in WWII. There was a period close to the end of the war when Walter and Nellie were sure they lost the youngest son, but he was later found in a hospital in France alive albeit injured, as they later found out, also deeply in love with a girl that took care of him. They returned back to the USA together and got married shortly thereafter, deciding to stay in New York where Norman wife’s father owns a butcher store. They have adopted two children a year ago.
