This ancient beauty has been hovering on the periphery of my list of beloved names for a while, but I sense it moving closer to the center. I love the contrast between the soft, familiar "soph" and the bristly final "isba." Are there any other Sophonisba admirers out there?

Well, I'm not one. The two syllables "isba" are not attractive.

I remember when this was a board darling.
I think I would like it on a cat, it feels quite feline. I think IRL it would just get shortened to Sophie.
I do like it with Roxane, Irene and Rachel. Rachel is fun as a MN!
