[Opinions] Re: Minea
in reply to a message by Janan
I want to pronounce it Minnie, like as in mouse. I don't like the spelling. Where even is Croatia?

If you don't know where Croatia is, Google is your friend.

That's a lazy answer.

Maybe I just don't understand how people can have access to the internet and still pride themselves on being ignorant. Not knowing something is one thing, going out of your way not to know something is another.Croatia, officially the Republic of Croatia, is a country in Southeast Europe. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, sharing a maritime border with Italy.Minea is not a Croatian name, but there is a Croatian singer who uses it as a stage name so I imagine this woman I met was named after her although I did not ask.

It probably took you longer to type that response than it would have taken to google where Croatia is :P

You seem really young so I doubt this is an issue for you right now but I really want to give you some advice. I've held several jobs over the years where I was either in charge of the hiring process or helped with it and when it came down to it, we always go with those candidates who show trouble-solving initiative. There's nothing wrong with asking questions of course (and you definitely should if you don't know where to find the answer to something), but there's a different between waiting for an answer and seeking an answer yourself and employers heavily prefer the latter in job candidates because nobody has the time to micromanage (unless that's a personality flaw your manager has, in which case, that sucks and I'm sorry lol). Just something to think about for the future! Showing an employer you'll work to find solutions will impress :)Not related to names, I know, but see so many bad interviews and job applicants all the time that it hurts my soul and I like to share tips when I can!

I'm sorry. I thought about how mean I was being and I take it back. I think I was having a bad day but that's no reason to take it out someone else. Sorry again.

Oh, thanks, I'm so sorry I thought someone telling me to look something up was lazy. I'll always think before I speak from now on.
