It looks really weird with a c. I do like it a lot with a k.
My mother always named one of her dolls Katrina and everyone assumed I'd be given that name. But she says it never occurred to her. Which is a shame.
I prefer the full name, but Trina is cute as a nn if you want one. But I like Trina enough on its own that if I wanted to use that, I'd just give Trina as the full name.

As for popularity. Katrine (with an e) is rather popular at the moment in Denmark and it gets a little boring that so many kids are called it. But it’s a decent enough name.

I prefer the spelling with a K. It just looks cleaner(?) to me.

I like Catrina and Katrina. People are turned off with the hurricane association (Hurricane Katrina). I doubt it would become popular again. Which is a such a shame. I love the Greek variant Katerina more. I plan on using Katerina Lilly. I love that it has a lot of nicknames like my own name.
