I find Esmeralda to be intensely sparkly or lush...too much so for me (I'm more into Rosalind, Esme, Zerelda, Merida), but it's appealing.

I like Esmeralda in theory, but it seems a bit much for me to use personally.

I like Emerald, but not Esmeralda. The sound of Esmeralda really turns me off. It'd be fine as a middle name.
Needs a nice smooth Latiny first name to make it flow.

I like Esmeralda, even though it’s honestly not my style. I prefer Emerald for that reason, even though I would never use it.

I would avoid Emerald, but then, I'd avoid all jewel names except Coralie. And, like Granny Weatherwax, I prefer Esme.

Either. I like it okay. It's not my style, but my BFF has a niece named Esmerelda Rosalie who is a sweet little thing =D
