I can't see the point of leaving the -h- out of Shepherd. And inserting an -a- ... why? To make it resemble a female leopard?

I've got very good friends with the ln Otto; as a fn it seems suitable for something like an Old English Sheepdog or perhaps a Long-Haired Dachshund - the kind of dog that you don't know which end is the head and which the tail until it moves.
