[Opinions] Soline
Soline means “sunlight” and is of French origin. It is pronounced “SO-LEEN”. So, what do you think?"People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing all day."'*•.¸♡ Have a great day/night! ♡¸.•*' Rate my personal name list please :) https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/217493

I like it much better than Solange.

I like Soline, though I prefer Solange.Soline is distinct from Soleil, so it doesn't mean "sunlight." Here's a reference: https://dictionary.reverso.net/english-french/sunlight

Actually, I've checked French websites and they all say that this name and Souline are variants of Solange.Nonetheless, I think I like it more than Solange. It's modern, youthful, yet traditional.

Really? Huh, that’s interesting. I don’t see how Solange or Soline are similar, but whatever. Im pretty sure it does mean “sunlight” though.

I like Solange more because I like that meaning more, and it says on the page for Soline that it's a variant of Solange. Idk about it meaning sunlight, you might be confusing it with Soleil, which is also really pretty.

I love it, but...Soline sounds super pretty and I love the meaning. However, it looks a little awkward in written form and could be easily mispronounced by those not familiar with French pronunciation. I still really like it though, I think it’s beautiful.

Are you getting that meaning by using Sol + the diminutive suffix -ine? What language does "souline" come from (I saw your entry on the comments for the name)?

Souline is Latin and French for sunlight. Remove the ‘u’ and just get Soline of course. It’s kind of like Soleil.

In Latin, 'sunlight' would be 'lux solis'. Or 'solis lux', the word order didn't matter, but neither of those could have been used as personal names. Did you find this 'etymology' somewhere? Please let us know, if you did, so that we can check it out and if necessary take action and/or simply avoid it. And if you made it up, maybe in future make it clear that your suggestions are just that.

Not sure why I would make up the meaning of a name, but okay.
Anyhow, Soline is related to Solana. It does not mean “sunshine” or “sunlight”, but “sol” literally meaning “sun”. Obviously -line is a suffix so it has no meaning relevant to sunlight. Every source I check says it means “sunlight” or some relation to the sun. Here are the sources:https://www.thebump.com/b/soline-baby-name/amp

I think it more likely means something like "little sun", if you're going to ignore the connection to Solange, which I think is cuter anyway, but whatever.I insisted that Solange meant "angel of the sun" for years because I thought it was soleil + ange, lol.

Thought it's from Solemnia "solemn".
I like it and Souline.
