I like it, but I'm very country and like rugged, masculine sounding names.

I think it's very "90's jock" (both Colt and Colton/Colter). It also doesn't age well because of the meaning.

It's going to start sounding weirder the older you get. A colt is a baby horse. Is a man going to want to identify with that at thirty? Forty? Seventy? Oh well, there's also the gun I guess. I'm not that fond of it but I like it better than Colton because I would not be bothered to see it on say a fictional cowboy.

Yeah. It sounds a little more rugged than other young/baby animal words, but it's not that much different than being named Puppy.

Siblings could be Rifle, or Arthur Kenneth, nn AK ... thoroughly distasteful.

Do most people think of guns when they hear Colt? I only think of a horse..

I think of horses too. I don't know much about guns.

I can only answer for myself. And, I like horses but not guns, and I don't like Colt as a name at all, so perhaps that's why.

Wordsmith is right. It is awful. What a weird sound! What weird imagery!I love it. It's so Spaghetti Western KITSCH. I fid a lot of the hyper-masculine names so campy that they are appealing. Actually I think I'll make a list of these next, I need to round em up, yeehaw.

AwfulI'd assume the parents wanted a hyper-masculine son and wouldn't tolerate any deviations from that standard.

45It's a gun. If you want to name your kid after a weapon, that's your choice. Colton is better, imo.

In my opinion, it sounds like more of a dog's name, mainly because I know an adorable dog named Colt. He's quite the chatterbox ^_^

A colt revolver is a gun. That is my personal association with the name. I hate Colton bc it sounds overly macho and beefy. Cole is best imo
