Virginia Dare Grace is interesting... I wonder if she's a relative of Virginia Dare or if the parents are trying to make a statement of some kind....
I think it's just catchy and a little nerdy. It's not as obscure a historical fact as it probably sounds some places...it's something that got taught in elementary school history where I grew up, like when we learned about Jamestown settlers and the mysterious Lost Colony, Virginia Dare got mentioned. Also, a kid named Oceanus got mentioned in relation to the Mayflower; I remember thinking that was a cool name.
It does seem unnecessary for birth records in these selective instances to be in the curriculum, and she does get creepily invoked by bigots sometimes, but oh well, cool names.

I think they just like history (that is to say, I know they like history, but I haven't asked for an explanation of their reasons for choosing the name)
Virginia Dare was my mom's pet name for my sister. I think it's kind of cute.
I'm not usually a fan of Grace, but that personalizes it some.
I like Joshua and Nicholas, but they sound pretty 80s/90s to me.

I wasn't sure about the Y either, but given the family he was born into it's more likely to be a surname from family history than an attempt at creativity.
Virginia Dare was the first English baby born in the New World.
That's cool to know, thanks!
My friend is named Nicholas Scott. Its a pretty good name.
I love Rowan and Virginia.
