It's pompous the way Augusta and Rex can be, but I don't actually dislike those, and eh, Max is cute.I feel like Maximilian is more serious, which appeals to me, while Maximus is sillier.

I adore it! It's more confident and energetic than Maximilian. It's also the masculine version of my posting name.

It's so cheesy, I love it.

I don’t care for it as a child’s name. Max is cute but both Maximus and Maximilian are pretentious. I might use it as a character name though. It’s a great name for a hero in a story about Ancient Rome.

I dislike the sound of Max but I get why people like it- it's short and spunky, classic while still packing a punch. But Maximus? No. It loses the things that Max had going for it in the first place. Plus it sounds like a brand of ice-cream.

I kind of like it, it's a bit of a more Macho shorter version of Maximilian. And I prefer it to Maximilian honestly. It's not my favorite but if I were going to make a list of my top 50 favorite guy names it would probably make the list.

Maximus is not bad, but it’s not my favourite either. I actually much prefer just Max on its own.

Over-ambitious. I far prefer Max.

I always think of a Roman General... It's OK, sure... But I'd expect to hear it more on an adult/ middle aged man or even a grandpa. It's an old fashioned name for me. Maximilian feels more "current". Maximo is nice as well as Maximino., "Massimo" is Italian.

I know one! He's 5, adorable, and goes by Max. As a name, I don't love it, but I do think it's super cool.

It sounds like a gladiator. And then I inevitably think of gluteus maximus. I like other "Max" names more.
