What are your thoughts on Enola?

It grew on me after the Enola Holmes movie. I like it, and don't mind the fact that it's alone backwards.

I love Enola's sounds and vintage vibe, but I can't dissociate it from the bomber.

As others have mentioned, I associate it with the Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber that dropped the first atomic bomb and with Enola Holmes. I did watch Enola Holmes starring Millie Bobby Brown and found the character annoying. Part of it may have been due to not being the intended audience, but the fact that she was not a good detective, had to stumble into the reveal, and then gloated about how she solved the mystery was eyeroll worthy. It is one of those stories where every other character has to drop down a level in order for the protagonist to shine. Flatest incarnation of Sherlock Holmes ever. The issue with her terrorist mother was not handled well either.
Maybe the books are excellent? If the books about Enola Holmes are superb, then having the name Enola might be like having the name Katniss, Scout, Frodo, Holden, or some other distinctive name that is shared with a book character.

I really like it, that and Nola without the E.. though I suppose that has already been previously established XD
It has a cute sound and gentle demure. I think the Millie Bobby Brown Sherlock remake is helping the imagine of it thankfully. There was also the little girl in the 90s movie Waterworld. Though it wasn't a well received movie she was a decent character.
And I myself had no idea it was the name of a bomb until someone told me in a different names forum.. they didn't teach that at my school. Possibly a reflection of the American education system lacking in general but I felt it worth mentioning

I haven't watched it yet, but I will tonight :) Yes, I loved "Waterworld" even though it apparently got the worst reviews ever. I thought it was so fun.
I actually watched documentaries on Hiroshima (I also can't remember it ever coming up at school) and even I didn't remember the name. I think it is brought up but people hear it and forget the name again, usually.

That's fair. Yeah I hate when names get a bad wrap that are pretty decent overall. I also have found it has native American usage as well prior to the bomb and it means "Magnolia" in that culture, symbolizing perseverance and growth after hardship. A lovely meaning and I don't really care for Magnolia myself it seems a little awkward and makes me think of Macaroni.

Aside from the bomber plane the Enola Gay, this name really makes me think of breakfast food for old people. Like Ensure and Granola all mixed up.

I like many E-names, and I don't even hate Nola, but for some unknown reason I dislike Enola.
And I've just learnt that: "The aircraft that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima was named Enola Gay after the mother of the pilot, who was herself named for the book character", - and that's disturbing, to say the least.

Yes, but it is also the main character in the "Enola Holmes" series and I think most young people associate it with that these days. The bomb is not the only usage the name received (and it definitely wasn't the first usage) and I doubt that anyone would use it in relation to the bomb. Enola Holmes is a popular childhood role model for many people.

Weirdly, perhaps, that actually makes the name less appealing for me. I'd never heard of the Enola Holmes series, but I just looked it up. Possibly a great series. But I don't like using names from current pop culture when naming children. Names like that get too tied to a certain character and seem not to age well. When the popularity of the character subsides, the name starts to feel dated. Much like the names from "Twilight" and "Hunger Games".

I was actually wrong it is, for some reason, classified as YA :O It is not at all like most YA books, though. It is very much like classic children's literature (in the feeling you get from it). I do like YA but it just feels different. I just ordered a YA book about fairies and I am excited, the main character is Deirdre which is quite interesting.

Seems redundant. The E beginning just makes it awkward. It has no known meaning, and not very nice history. I would just use Nola.
