[Opinions] Darian (g)
WDYT of Darian for a girl?
Replies
I think it would be ok.
Kinda retro style - like the age of Dawn, Doreen, and Deirdre. And Leslie, Lynn, Kelly, Tracy, Kim.
It's not any more strikingly cross-gender than Dylan (g), which is pretty common.
Darian is too rare on guys, for it to be ugly & mannish the way Adrian is for girls.
I even think one reason people don't really use Darian (b) very frequently, may be because it doesn't quite seem masculine enough (reminds of Marian), and Darius is available and more appealing.
It might be more broadly appealing if spelled Darienne, or even Darien.
I think Dorian (g) is less harsh (tho it has more baggage, from the book)
And Daria and Dara are both preferable to me, over Darian.

I used to love this name for a boy when I was 13 (because of Sailor Moon) but I can sorta see it on a girl too. The -an ending is sort of an updated sleek, modern -anne thing. It has some appeal for me, I could see myself liking it if I came across one in the wild.
Nope nope nope nope.. it's weird even on a boy tbh
Yuck- I don't even like it on a boy
Terrible
No thanks.
I actually graduated with a female Darian, and I know a female Darian who is probably in her mid twenties now. I don't care much for the name; I would rather Daria, but pronounced Dare-ee-a, not like the TV character.
