in my particular dialect my first instinct would be to pronounce both as "My-ah". For Maia I may secondarily guess "May-ah" if I was told I was incorrect with no context. Then after that I would guess it as a rhyming pronunciation of Gaia (so to me Ma-EE-ah). I personally prefer Maya over Maia imo due to the perceived more straight-forwardness of the pronunciation.
