[Opinions] Re: Esmeralda
It feels overtly dramatic and tawdry. Aside from the Hunchback character, it sounds like a place name, a ship referred to exclusively as "she", some obscure plant species, or a character in a cheesy Brazilian telenovela. One positive association is the character Granny Weatherwax in the Discworld novels. The character in Hugo's novel was a very naïve 15-year-old whom three adult men lusted over, who died tragically and young, and who was revealed to actually have been white after all. So I'm kind of lukewarm about her, despite "The Hunchback" being one of my very favourite novels.masculine list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/191050/124079
