Amana reminds me too much of "a man".
Amara is nice in theory, much better than Mara. But in many languages amaro/amara means "bitter" (Italian, for example) and I hate that.

I prefer Amara.
What I dislike about both names is that they sound like lots of other popular names. They do not stand out and will constantly get confused. Amara, Amana, Amalia, Alaia, Amelia, Amira, Aaliyah, Arina, Alina, Amina, Mara, Amanda, Amandla etc. etc.
I used to love Amara but started to like it less and less because of that and because of the "bitter" thing. It just sounds like so many other names.
