I like the sound of it. I just don't like any of the popular spellings - especially not
Kayleigh and
Kayley. "
Kay" feels dated as hell to me, it's like a -leen ending... I prefer C spellings. Maybe they evoke the dance more, and seem less made-up.
If the name were novel and refreshing again, and respelling it didn't seem tedious ... I'd spell it Cailie, or Cailee, or even Ceili.
Of the more well-used spellings, I think
Kaylee is ehh ok, Caylee is better (except for that news story),
Kailey is sort of appealing,
Kaylie and Kayli are cute and simple.
It'd just be a normal fashionable name here, not tacky/trashy. I've seen one Kayli among my daughter's school peers (born in the 00s). Some people here (a moderately affluent eastside Seattle area) whose houses are better than mine, have daughters with trendy names like Kyah and
Estella and
Kennedy ...
Kayleigh would fit in with them.
