[Opinions] Butterfly
What do you think of Butterfly as a name?
Yes, I know who Butterfly McQueen is. Her birth name was Thelma, BTW. :)

Not personally a huge fan of it. It just sounds like a bug (I know it is, but I mean like it doesn’t sound much like a name. Just the insect.)
I’ve seen some people use Mariposa (Spanish for butterfly) and I’d prefer that honestly. Or going with specific butterfly names, like Lysandra.

I like it as a hippie GP name. It would be great for a character, or as a fun middle name, but others are right, it doesn't really have a good nickname. Maybe B (or Bee, which would be funny)?
Good for you - I've never heard of Butterfly McQueen, but if I'd been her I'd have stayed with Thelma. Butterflies are insects; pretty, certainly, but once were caterpillars. Not a pleasant thought. And butter is delicious, OK, but ... a food-based name? No, thanks.

It's just too theatrical. I mean, the two Butterflies most people can think of both chose it for themselves: McQueen and that girl that sat up in a tree for a year to keep it from being cut down.
And what kind of nns would you get? Butt? Butter? Fly? Ick.

Julia Butterfly Hill.
We all know about her, lol.

I think Teffie and Terfie would make great nicknames, and if those don't work out, Effie is a possible nickname.
Eh. Not every name needs a nickname.
Terfie would be a no-go, unless you're comfortable being accused of being a 'Terf' (transphobe).
It's silly, it's childish, it doesn't have a nice sound. No one should be named this.
Agree.
Astonishingly stupid. Reminds me of Keith Richards daughter Dandelion Angela. She goes by Angela, of course. I would probably assume the parents were on heroin while naming the kid.
As a middle name or nickname it could work, otherwise, completely out the question. Names like Flutura, Kimimela, or Bindi are much better.

I like it, but only as a nickname.
dont like it at all
