Like mirfak, I have loved it since reading the Chronicles of Prydain. I pronounce it TAH-ren. I'd love to see it more.

I kinda like it. Always did since I read the Chronicles of Prydain in fifth grade.
But it does remind me of Tara, and the pronunciation's a little ambiguous (I originally guessed it was TAIR-an).
So I've transferred my affections to the name Tarn.
Taran is still nice to see.

My son goes to nursery with a Taran. I like it, and the meaning “thunder” is pretty cool.

I know a female Taran, it's okay but sounds treendy.

I like it. It's a nice masculine form of Tara. I also like Taryn for a girl.
