[Opinions] Fridenot
Just added this to my mental list of names to annoy my partner with.
It's 'derived from the Germanic elements frid "peace" and not "need".'
What do you think of it?
Here are some other names that are in the "peace" category of BtN. Do you like any?
Femke
Fenna
Irene
Miran
Pax
Solomon
Wilfred
Winifred
Thanks!

I think it might by fre-deh-not but that’s more of a guess.
Winifred is fantastic, I agree!

Afraid not doesn't mean don't be afraid, it's just a polite way of saying 'no' or 'sorry, no'. Afraid in this case is basically a synonym for sorry.
Can colloquially just be said as 'fraid not.

I wasn’t using it objectively. It was a “mock etymology”.
Is that how you use “afraid not”? That’s really interesting!
Fenna is one of my favourites on the list :)

I’m not a native English speaker, and didn’t know that “fraid not”(without “I’m”) existed. Gotta love Google.
I don’t use “afraid not”. LOL
Oh okay haha. It’s a very polite way of saying “no” for me, so totally a valid point for you to make either way!
I love Irene, but only with three syllables. Realistically, therefore, only as a mn.
I almost included Irena, which I like a lot, instead, but went with Irene because it hasn’t quite shed its dated feeling for me.
The only one I like is Solomon
Solomon is a fun name :)
