[Opinions] New Royal Baby Girl!
Princess Beatrice, daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, welcomed her first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. It’s a girl! Beatrice also has a stepson, Christopher. What do you think they’ll name her? I’m thinking it’ll be Alice or Alexandra, but I also think they might use a classic Italian name.——

Elizabeth will probably be a middle name. As others have mentioned, Alice is probably a safe bet, but I hope they go with something else. Amelia, Chloe, Adelaide, Victoria, or Clara are fairly common in Britain and might appeal to the parents.Gabriella, Genevieve or Evangeline might be nice but seem less likely.

My guess for the first name is something non-royal and trendy. Like Oivia, Luna, Penelope or Maya. They might go for Victoria as a middle name.

Is Philippa (or Filippa) on the table, in honor of the late Prince Philip?

Maybe.

People magazine says the odds are on Matilda, Cecilia, and Elizabeth and as a nod toward Italy - Arabella, Florence, Francesca, and Giovanna. Princess Beatrice's full name is Beatrice Elizabeth Mary.

I'd love to see Matilda, too! Arabella I heard was going to be Beatrice's name; it could be a clever in-joke with her family.

Actually I think it was going to be Annabel

Please not another Elizabeth! Practically everyone has that middle name, I mean I get it but maybe it's time to put it to rest.

I don't think you can name a member of royalty after a living monarch; that explains why a lot of the girls have Elizabeth somewhere in their names.

I don't really know much about which names are already taken or not.But Alice would make a lot of sense if it is a family name for them as it is also a popular name in Italy and goes with the surname.I despise Alexandra, but Alessandra would be fine.Maybe: Francesca, Eleonora, Ginevra, Alice, Alessandra, Giuliana, Carlotta.
Or maybe they will choose an English classic: Alice, Lillian, Victoria, Isabelle. No idea. I just think that Alice is likely and they will probably also use Elizabeth as a middle name and maybe Sarah? Alice Sarah Elizabeth? Alice Elizabeth Sarah? In any case, I think they don't have any restrictions, so it might be Alice but it might also be something like Betty-Sue, Shelby or Juniper.

Betty-Sue ... Shelby ... Juniper ... you really are predicting the fall of the monarchy!I feel mildly sorry for Beatrice: neither of her parents are particularly meritorious human beings, and in her place I wouldn't use their names or any form of them for a child of mine. Which must be a saddening situation to be in.

I've got the impression that the Yorks are a pretty close family despite everything, so probably no need to feel sorry for Beatrice.

Hahaha :)Oh goodness, is her father THE Prince Andrew? I remember that being all over the news a few months back. I didn't immediately think of it.I have no idea who her mother is exactly or what she did, but I guess if she did something awful as well they won't use Sarah.

Sarah, former Duchess of Ferguson, is mostly famous these days for Weight Watchers. I don't think she has done anything too terrible.Prince Andrew, on the other hand...

Can't recall the details; Andrew and Sarah divorced quite amicably, it seems, but that didn't prevent a photo appearing, everywhere, of Duchess Sarah and a gentleman acquaintance, informally clad next to a pool I think, and the ducal toes were being cheerfully sucked by the dude in question. I suppose having been married to Prince Andrew is enough to leave anyone a bit peculiar ... when Prince Philip was dying, there was another leak: someone in the Palace apparently said "When he dies, who's going to stop the Queen when Andrew comes around claiming to be broke?" Dear me, what a bunch. I couldn't be even slightly royalist, ever! I'm just glad I'm not a Brit.
