My sister had the baby a few hours ago, she named her Eloise Victoria and they will call her Ellie for short.

Well I think it is appropriate to use an infantile name when at the moment it is, in fact, an infant

Funny that you describe Ellie as infantile. To me/us it, spelled Elly usually, is very much an old lady name.
