As an American, I pronounce it na-DEZH-da (the 'zh' being the 'j' sound of French). I heard it from a well-informed friend, so I suppose this pronounciation is close to the authentic Russian one.

In Bulgaria we say nah-DEZH-dah. I *think* the Russians give a softer 'e' and say something more like nah-DYEZH-dah.~ Ivayla,

Pronunciation for NADEZDA (meaning hope) is:
NAD= nuhd
E = yeah
ZH = zh - soft z as the French pronounce it
DA = duh
So.. Ivayla was absolutely spot-on!!
