Radclyffe family
YEAR 51 Ender’s youngest sister, Aleyna, has her first child! They give him a modern Turkish first, name like she has (he looks a lot like her), and her husband wanted to give him a fun word name: Alev Bear.
YEAR 52 Nova’s father, Gabriel, who the Radclyffe kids had grown to love in their own way over the years, passes away at age 78.
YEAR 53 Our family is in debt. Starting with Gareth’s medical bills from his lyme disease treatments (he’s okay now with only the occasional bout of insomnia that seems to be a holdover from it) and figuring out Morgan’s asthma regime and ongoing medication, and with sports and camp costs for the first set of twins and clothing costs for all the kids, things have added up and Ender and Gareth are struggling to pay it all off. They ask Justus (who is still single and has a well-paying job) if he can help them out, which he does and they’re in a much better place and will be able to pay him back over time.
YEAR 54 Our family adopts a new pet (Newt died ages ago), a middle-aged Maine Coon cat named Athena. Her previous owner, a Classical literature professor, passed away. Athena often "hunts" soft objects, then drags them around like prey, she likes to sit in the sink, and she always gets underfoot. She also sits on top of Ender when he’s reading which is kind of like wearing a living weighted blanket. He pretends to complain, but loves her to pieces.
YEAR 55 Nova got her big break in Hollywood (an exciting achievement for an older woman, maybe things are changing!). She had a significant supporting role in a movie that was nominated for an Oscar, and subsequently landed a main role on TV show that’s gotten big. The Radclyffe’s are so happy for her, and are shocked when she sends all of her siblings a sizable check as a thank you for sticking by her throughout the years and following her father’s death. With this, Ender and Gareth are able to nearly pay back all of what they owe to Justus.

I get in trouble with the law after I mess up my taxes. Thaïs speaks to a lawyer friend and is able to get her help for the situation, and we're able to escape with a small fee.
