[Opinions] Pigeon
A person in today’s newspaper is going by the name Pigeon. WDYT?
My only association with the name is as a nickname used in film Lady and the Tramp. I would do a double take if I heard it as a first name but I could get used to it though I wouldn’t use it.

Pigeons are a beautiful part of nature as well. This being said, I’m not a fan of it as a name. I will give it that it’s a unique name. I admire that aspect about it; it’s different.
I really don't get the appeal of this name, or even as a nickname. Pigeons are gross. A pigeon is also slang for the target of a scam.
More pigeons have won medals for gallantry in war time than any other animal. That said, it's a crap name for a person, although I, too, have heard it used as a nn, something that seem cruel when you consider the slang meaning is not complimentary.
I love pigeons. They are perhaps my favorite bird, and I love all birds. But I don't think it makes a good name. I guess there's someone out there who loves pigeons even more than I do.
At best, it's a babyish-sounding nn like Pumpkin or Ladybug.
At worst, well, it calls the bird to mind. Yes, I know, doves are the same as pigeons, but doves get much better PR. Pigeons have the reputation of being dirty, messy nuisances. Flying rats, I believe is the usual term. (I don't find them as nasty as seagulls though. God, I hate seagulls.)
