[Opinions] Primrose or Princess
WDYT about these two names. Give some opinions.

They both sound pompous but Primrose is better as it has nicknames to fall back on, is not a title, and sounds less childlike. In fact, it sounds very queenly and up-tight - perhaps in a good way.
The whole concept of Princess as a name is just bizarre to me.
Primrose isn't a particular favorite, but I do think it's lovely.

I don't like title names (Princess, Duke, etc.). They just seem... pretentious? Narcissistic? Primrose isn't my style, but I can see why others might like it.
I do actually like Primrose though
Primrose, Princess on a person is God Awful on a person no offense. It's tolerable on a pony or cat but not by much.
I feel like I'd rather be Princess than Dolly, but I'd rather be Primrose than Princess.
I think Primrose seems self-contained, and Princess seems bold. They're both quaint.

I adore Primrose. If I lived in an English speaking country, I'd use it without hesitation.
I'm not fan of Princess. It sounds too sassy, and not in a good way.

Princess is beyond pretentious. Primroses don't grow where I live, so my associations are with 'prim', not a pleasing life sentence, and Rose, which is the most trite of all flower names. There was a terrifying serial killer in the UK, his name escapes me; he was a GP and used to routinely murder his elderly lady patients, who all thought he was wonderful because he did house calls; he would then steal whatever he fancied from their jewellery and take it home to his wife, named Primrose, who wore the pieces without questioning their places of origin.
Need I add that I would use neither? No? I thought not.

True Crime Nerd checking in, it was Harold Shipman.
If we use that logic that we shouldn't use any name tied to a serial killer or Natorious criminal in some way than there would be no names left to use. Most young people of child bearing age associate Primrose with the younger sister in the Hunger Games anyways, and most not likely this lady from who knows how long ago if you don't even remember.
This is the Opinions Board, not the Logic Board. It would be surprising if we all thought the same. Surprising, and very dull.
Opinions are born of a train of thought in logic. Which you know already as a teacher, yes?
It would have been around 1998 that Harold Shipman’s crimes were first suspected. I would have been around 13/14 at the time.
Even my first association with Primrose would not be in association with Harold Shipman. I’m sure Primrose was the name of an animated cow I watched in something as I child. Out of Primrose and Princess though I infinitely prefer Primrose.

Primrose if I have to choose.
I like the idea of "primrose" for a name concept, but I think the word is too awkward. Because of the shape of it - the way my mouth moves when I say it is sort of unpleasant. It bothers me. Also the word "prim" in it makes me feel a little cold.
Princess seems like a sweet name given by a smitten dad, and might be a little heavy to carry, but it's okay. It would never occur to me to name a child that, though. Doesn't appeal to me personally.
I like Precious more than either - although it's not a personal fave either.

Primrose is somewhat pretentious, but it is a name (I like it), Princess on the other hand is not. Unless of course you are naming rabbits. Primrose and Princess are delightful rabbit names.
Princess has been in the US top 1000 for like 40 years, so yes it is a name.
I don’t like either but I agree that Primrose is nicer as a middle name. I prefer Rose of Sharon to Primrose.
Primrose- I find it extremely stuck up. I’d imagine a rich, mean, private school girl with this name. It’s literally in the meaning. It essentially means “first rose”, not like other Roses.
As a middle name though, my opinion is completely different. It has a certain rhythm to it that makes it a nice middle name, but an awful first name.
Princess- also stuck up but in a trashy, 2000s chick flick prom queen way. Sounds like a brat and a stripper at the same time, or something you’d call a dog.
This might be a good comedy show actually. Two mean girls who run completely different schools and have been best friends for a long time. One is conniving, smart and prude, the other is dumb and flirty. It would be so tacky, but that would kinda be the point.

It’s “first” because it flowers early, not because it’s supposed to be superior somehow.
Eh, still
Okay, Thank You.
