[Opinions] Just Teddy?
What are your options on Teddy as name by itself? I love it, and I would prefer a full name like Theodore or Edward, but wonder what you think of it by itself.

I like it, and I think it’s fine. I know a couple grown Teddy’s and it doesn’t seem ill-fitting or odd on them.
I think Teddy is too childish to be the full name and that a child might want to go by something else when they get older, though I suppose a Teddy could still just go by Ted as an adult. I don't really like any full names for Teddy that much. If I had to choose one, I would go with Theodore, but I think if I had a Theodore, I would use Theo before Teddy.
Some nns age well, like Chris or Charlie; some work well on the right person, like Jimmy or Bobby. Some do not work at all past early childhood, and Timmy and Teddy are prime examples. I do know a Teddy who's probably in his sixties, but his name is Theodore. It suits him but only just; Ted is much more appropriate for a grown man or even a teenager.
I think Teddy is adorable nickname for Theodore, Edward or Edwin. It doesn't work as a given name on its own.
I don’t care for it was a full name but I think it’s cute as a nickname for a boy named Edward.
I don't like it, maybe as a nn. But a full name gives options later
The name a child gets, whatever it is, becomes that child's possession. The namer usually dies before the named. For this reason, and others, I think that it is only fair to give a child the kind of name and/or the number of names that will allow for their own taste and sense of identity, and also for possible accidents, like a serial killer with the same name and surname whom one would not wish to be mistaken for.
So, Teddy. Very Roosevelt, and therefore also very Bear. And very juvenile. I like Edward; Theodore isn't used where I live, in my experience anyway, and I don't find it appealing. So, I'd either use Edward or, more likely, something like Timothy Edwin David, which gives TED initials and also lots of scope for other possible nns or choices. "My name is Timothy but everyone calls me Ted because of my initials" or "I'm David, it's actually my second middle name but it's the one I prefer" would be sensible things to say. "My name's Teddy. I don't know why; like, my dad thought it was cute or something" isn't.
