However I live on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, which is very, very close to the U.S. border. So we're almost identical accent-wise--at least I can't tell the difference between our accent and the general American one.

Anyway, Ada's pronounced AY-dah here, with the first syllable like "fade".

French people say it: a-da. Like the "a" in Edda, I think.

It can be AY-dah, AA-dah or AH-dah, with the AY in "May", the AA in "apple", and the AH in "pot".

I'm American and I've always hear Ada pronounced as ay-duh, like the a in fade. I've known a couple older women named Ada and lived near a village named Ada (named after the founder's wife I believe).

I have heard other people say they pronounce it more like Edda. I myself have never heard that pronunciation used.

In British English it's like "fader" without the f, and with the r typically omitted. But what the Americans get up to, I don't know!
