[Opinions] Name of the Day: Reyes
WDYT of Reyes? Too surnamey? Unisex? Love to know what you think.Alas, my last post of 2022. I quite like Reyes Pilar and Reyes Daniel.

I've met a couple of women named Reyes (Spanish both of them), and the name didn't look weird. In fact, it would be even more strange for me to see it on a man. Before I met them, I had always though that it was too surnamey, but now I've realised it only is when you think about it on its own. Once you see it with a surname and associated to a person, it becomes a not-so-bad name.Still, Reyes is not a name that I particularly like or would use.

It makes more sense than Gomez, at least. I kinda like it, and it shortens to Rey. Not unisex though.

It's difficult for me to think of Reyes as a personal name because it is such a common surname where I'm at (large Hispanic community). So yes, for me it's too "surname-y," even if the similar Ray is a perfectly ordinary name.

Considering its meaning, would say its absolutely and entirely masculine. Its not particularly attractive and would probably make a better surname than given name.
