I think what makes Agamemnon less usable than name like Medea is that aside from all the sex slaves and child sacrifice, he's just fundamentally vain and unlikeable and wavering and annoying.

Ok, but regardless of the character, I don't get a wavering vibe from Agamemnon. And a character being unlikable and annoying "aside from all the sex slaves and child sacrifice" does seem vague and subjective enough to me that I'd think people can overlook it, if faced with an Agamemnon (same with a Medea) IRL - I can imagine not seriously minding it as my name, so it passes that test at least.
