Someone here described it as beautiful like sealskin once, and I could see that. It'd be a decent selkie name.
But it's only likable for humans to me in the way that it's unapologetically ugly or macabre seeming. It's slimy and abrupt and even means "raid"! I like that it's got a distinct organic weightiness to it, but calling that gravitas or dignified in the way of Joan might be a stretch...
The only thing I can think of that's comparable vibewise is Fallon (80s style power girl, so if that's your idea of sexy, ok), which sounds like foul and talon but still has a more neutral "leader" meaning. Though maybe it could seem like a sleeker Harper or Ainsley. Or it's like Slade but for girls.
