Bill Monroe and his
Blue Grass Boys (late 1930s onward)
Instrumental in the history of american music,
Monroe pioneered the genre of Bluegrass, for which his band became the namesake, fusing different southern religious and secular musical traditions into an ecletic western sound.

2. The Statler Brothers (Mid 1950s onward)
Starting in 1955 as a gospel group, they later mixed gospel vocal harmonies, later preforming with
Johnny Cash, and then having a succesful career as a band, including their own TV show.

3. Alabama (late 1960s onward)
this band, whuch bears its home state's name, started as a cover band, but later released no less than 21 chart-'topping singles in a row, whuch combined southern rock, pop and country elements into a succesful sound.

Brooks & Dunn (early 1990s onward)
This southern duo started in the 90's ranking high up on the charts with poppy country tunes that matched their contrasting vocal styles.

5. Rascal Flatts (late 1990s onward)
Being described as a country boy band, Rascal Flatts provides a more conservative version of the boy pop that was, and still is, popular in the USA.
