[Opinions] Ottoline & Arwen
This weekend I found a list of names for characters I wrote around the age of 12. The names that stood out most for me were Ottoline and Arwen. I was reading Lord Of The Rings around that time which explains Arwen but I don’t know where I got Ottoline from. Anyway WDYT of Arwen and Ottoline?Via Veritas Vita

I like Arwen and would use it IRL, with the nickname Ari.Ottoline is interesting, as a character it sounds like it would be somebody's eccentric rich aunt.
(Is the "line" supposed to be sound more French (leen) or German (lee-nə)? My instinct is to say "leen" but I'm not sure.)

My instinct would be to say leen too.

I think they're both cool but very different. Ottoline is neat, it's not pretty or conventional but it's clunkily and awkwardly fading elegance and I can respect that. Arwen is very pretty and very much inescapably Tolkien. Anwen is a nice alternative that I would use in a heartbeat if I had any Welsh heritage at all.
