I have seen quite a few names that have that "foreign first name, local last name" pattern. Stuff like Tamiko Johnson, or Maame-Ekua Williams. But I do know what you mean, I remember growing up with a lot more people with the "local first name, ethnic surname" pattern. I think things are changing.

For past generations it was considered "better" for people to assimilate to Western culture, so they chose Western first names for their children. Only recently has the tide been turning, and now people are choosing more "ethnic" names. Mixed background relationships are probably much more common nowadays too.

I love the idea of people named things like Ayele Johnson and Yeonhwa Smith.
