[Opinions] Re: Guinnevere
in reply to a message by Array
I find pretty much all forms of the name to be heavy with baggage. She wasn't my favorite character by far, in some versions she's downright annoying. A lot of these names strongly associated with mythology or fairy tales just sound like they are trying too hard for this "my daughter is a perfect little princess" thing which makes me roll my eyes. If anything, I prefer Gwenhwyfar, which if I'm pronouncing correctly, at least has a softer and more appealing sound that the *literally severe* sound in Guinnevere. I think the baggage of Guinevere is what made Jennifer so appealing initially. Jennifer managed to pull off some of the romantic princess/white knight feeling without making you ask automatically where Lancelot was. Too bad people are so fatigued on Jennifer anymore that they don't hear anything at all and automatically respond with a YUCK. :( (I hate having a name that no one likes. Look out Madisons and Graces of today.)
