In 1993, the WMO decided to retire the names Brittany, Dorothy, Holly, Jeanne, Matthew, Owen, Paula, Richard, Silvia, Tobias, Beta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, and Iota. Due to Greek rules, they are gonna be used later on. They were replaced with Bernice, Della, Harley, Julia, Martin, Ogden, Penny, Ross, Samara, and Tim for the 1998 season, respectively.
