[Surname] Surname: HAUBRICH
I have a tough one for you.
My HAUBRICH ancestors came from the Black Forest area of Germany. I've never been able to find out what it means other than the online translation sites which translate it as "stick-break". I can't even imagine what category this would go under. An occupation (kindling-maker), maybe?

The Oxford Dictionary of American Surnames has HAUBRICH as a variant of HUBERT, which meakes sense to me (with HUBRECHT as a "missing link"):
