I had a dream last night that I had a child named Clarence, nn "Clancy".
I do like Clarence a lot, it's very old-timey refined gentleman-dweeb, which is my thing.
Clancy as a nickname for Clarence is a little bit of a reach, but I think it might work. I like Clare as well. I actually worked with a guy named Clare and it never felt weird, even though Clare is pretty firmly a female-only name by now.
