I really like moths and I thought of these names that are inspired from moth species.
Atlas Atticus - From the atlas moth, latin name: attacus atlas
Maple Rose - from the rosy maple moth, known for its vibrant pink and yellow appearance
What do you think? I think they're pretty while not being too on-the-nose. Feel free to leave other bug names that could work as human names.

I like all four names, and I think having a moth connection is really cool whilst being subtle. More ideas:

I like Atlas Atticus, repeating A's aren't bothering and it has ring to it
but Maple Rose sounds like an alias/pen name, maybe because it's short
maybe Rosalin Maple / Maple Rosalin ? or other version of Rose
You interested me in bug names. Now I will have to search and wonder, because nothing comes to mind since English isn't my 1st language; I'm not familiar with many names of bugs or birds '^^

Atlas and Atticus are super-trendy/Hollywood right now. Maple Rose is a pretty moth, but the name is cutesy and sickly-sweet.
There's always Luna, but that's so common today (and common for pets too) the moth association is lost.
I really do not like moths. Yes, some of them are very pretty, but I hate the stupid, blundering way they go flapping around bumping into people and smashing themselves against windows.

All I can think of is Lady Bird Johnson!

It was Claudia. When she was a baby, a nurse said she was "as purty as a little lady bird" (meaning a female bird; the beetle is in this country called the ladybug).
Personally I think those kinds of nicknames should be kept strictly within the famly and usually in childhood only.
But it seems to be an upper-class thing, adults going by babyish nicknames. We also have Tipper (Mary) Gore and Scooter (Lewis) Libby.

Thanks - I didn't know that! Just assumed that her LBJ initials attracted the future president, or that he'd invented a suitably initialled nickname. And it's my theory, though I can't vouch for it, that the further up the upper class you are, the more likely you are to have a family name, and then you'd need a nn for ease of identification.
Lyndon called her Bird, usually.
They did go with the LBJ initials for their daughters Lynda Bird and Lucie Baines. Even one of their dogs was called Little Beagle.
