[Opinions] Re: Juliana
I like Julian for a boy, but not enough to use it. The only fem Jul- name I like is Juliet, and even that I'd only use as a mn, to avoid the standard nn: Julie. I had an Afrikaans colleague once whose given names are Juliana Elsabe; Juliana is pronounced you-lee-AH-nah in Afrikaans, which is a mouthful. She chose to be known as Julie, with the English pronunciation (with the English pronunciation: she is perfectly bilingual and has a degree in Classics - Latin and Ancient Greek). I prefer Julie to Juliana, however it might be pronounced: just too long and clumsy.
