This is one of those names that were way ahead of their time when they were popular. Beverly ought to fit right in with Everly, Marley, Harper, et al. but it doesn't because it fits in more with Brenda, Diane, Paula and Joanne. Shirley is in right about the same position.
I don't think Beverly is an unatractive name, but it is very middle-aged-when-I-was-a-kid.
