As someone who was born in February 14th and has Valentine has a middle name, I quite like it and I don't find it kitschy at all. ;) ;) ;)
I dunno, for me it's a unique and cute reminder of my special day. My parents have said it was solely because I was born that day, otherwise they would have chosen another middle name. I'm a French speaker, so in French ''Valentine'' is feminine to me. The ending sounds pretty similar to Justine. I'd chose Valentin for a boy.
