Help[Surname] Zezula
Hi, I don't know much about my family as my grandfather didn't talk about his side much out of his wife's shame for it, the last name Zezula is his mother's maiden name and comes from ether Poland or Czechia (all the Soviet Union when she lived there). If anyone has any info please post in here, the slightest hint of a meaning is welcome even if its just a wild guess

It sounds like зозуля (zozulya), Ukrainian word. It is a type of bird :) maybe it is related?

Yes, it specifically means cuckoo. It could come from either Polish or Czech or even Slovak though, as it is the same in these languages (only dialectal though). Additionally, it could also come from the form Žežula from either Czech or Slovak.
