[Opinions] Do you prefer weird names or common ones?
I prefer normal names I think in part for the fact that my name is weird and I hate when people mess it up (granted, I love my name). I wondered if it's the same for y'all?

Neither. My favorite names are uncommon ones which feel classic and normal enough not to feel weird.
In general, I prefer weird names. I have an unusual name, so I understand what it is like when people find it difficult to pronounce or spell your name, but I would not rather have a common name. If I were to name a child, for example, I would not want them to have to share their name with three other people in whatever class or group of people they are with. Not that the name being common makes it bad, there are a lot of common names that I quite like (and a lot of weird names I do not like).
I'm more on the weird side, but I do have a limit. I have a more unusual name, or at least not common, and I love it. I take a lot of pride in having a name you don't hear every day. I do like some very popular names, but I'd never use one.
I like all sorts of names, but I’m a huge proponent of appreciating less common names. My favorite very common names: Alexander, Amanda, Angela, Elena, Isabella, Isaiah, Joshua, Julia, Lilliana, Luna, Megan, Olivia, Rachel, Samantha, Sophia, Stephanie, Tristan, Tyler, Violet, WyattMy favorite very rare names: Ajax, Carmine, Dianella, Elistina, Florian, Ianthe, Idalia, Isadore, Lunaria, Mirabella, Roselle, Saskia, Sophronia, Verena, Xanthe, Zenobia
I like vintage gems, names that are established but rarely used now.
Generally speaking, I prefer names that were not surprising in the 1950s. I could live happily ever after without Brenda and Sandra etc, but the standards seem pretty timeless, generally speaking.
I prefer less common and unique names, but I have an appreciation for the classics.
Such a hard question! I am kind of allergic to common names LOL. (Being named Scarlett in 2025.) I am very much over Ava, Sophia/Sofia, Olivia, Ella, James, Alexander, Oliver, Liam, etc.But some weird names are just over the top too. Especially influencer babies like Apple, Leaf, Afternoon, Atlas, Stone, etc.I do like the names Beatrix, December, and Raine. Those are too weird for some people, but I think they're beautiful.
ive always loved beatrix- my cat's name is beatrice I know thats not the same but still
That's a really cute name for a cat! I love Beatrix especially because of the sweet author.
My cat's name is Scout- also for literature :)
Mixture. I don't love super common names like William, John, Sarah, ect, but I don't like Kreatyve and tradgedeigh names! I like middle ground names.
Real honestly.
What do you mean?
Oh im just agreeing lol
Funny, my own 'weird' name is probably why I do like weird names. I like plenty of 'normal' ones too, of course, but most of my favorites are considered unusual.
It really depends on the name for me, overall I prefer common names though.
Common all the way, mainly for the same reason you stated.
I prefer less common names for sure. I got interested in names because I liked collecting the interesting ones.
That do be the Behindthename.com experience
