The Mikkelsen family is now truly spread across the globe with Jannik and Chae-Won and their middle son with family living in Europe, Ji-su and his family in North America and Iseul and her family in Africa, plus there is still their niece and Chae-Won’s family in South Korea, it’s no wonder then that Jannik and Chae-Won spend a lot of their retirement traveling. Ji-su has retired from professional sports three years ago, shortly after the birth of his and Riley’s youngest child, a daughter. He now works as a sports agent and finally has more time to spend with his family. Riley has recently picked up a job as guidance counselor in a local high school and truly enjoys it. In addition to their jobs they are busy with their four kids, driving them to practices and games as both older sons follow in their dad’s footsteps playing baseball, while Brooks enjoys hockey more and their daughter is at this time really into soccer. Axel and Fenna planned to go the one and done route, but found out couple of months ago there is another baby coming, they do not mind though and are getting ready to welcome their son. Iseul has retired from professional sports once she found out she was expecting a baby with her boyfriend a year ago. They have settled down in his home country South Africa and plan to raise their daughter there. Francis passed away shortly after his 70th birthday following a brief illness, despite his estrangement from his family in the last years of his life, they do miss him dearly. Maryam keeps herself busy with her grandchildren, but when she is left alone her guard can fall down and her time is filled with sadness. Vivienne and Barnaby have become empty nesters with their youngest two studying in Cambridge and Oxford and their youngest in boarding school. They are slowing down in their jobs and preparing the pathway for the next generation (Ivo) to take over the family law firm. Thalassa and João surprised no one when they suddenly got married at the town hall after raising their kids together for twelve years, they have moved in with Maryam, preventing her from being alone in the big old family house. Cordelia and Brynja are also legally married and welcomed a daughter via sperm donor thirteen months ago. Even a baby did not stop Cordelia from touring the globe, now it’s just two more people traveling along as Brynja works as her manager and their baby goes wherever they go. Lucinda and Harry are busy with their growing family, as Charlie became big brother a year ago and they are expecting a daughter in four months’ time. Wolfie now runs his own startup together with a classmate from Cambridge. The death of his father has been pretty hard on him despite the rocky relationship they had the finality of the situation was difficult to work through.

They wanted to wait until after their boys started school to add another child to their family and are six months pregnant with a daughter. Raffaella’s fourth novel turned out to be the breakthrough one and has been translate into thirty languages and sold on all continents. She also became a mother nineteen months ago, her daughter’s father who she was not in relationship has chosen to not be involved in the baby’s life, but does pay alimony. This caused quite an uproar in the Italian part of Raffaella’s family but her daughter’s sweet little face made everyone forget the previous tension. Lorenzo and Giulietta are now Italian number one team in ice dance and for the past four years have grabbed multiple medals on European and even World level. They got engaged over the Christmas while visiting Giulietta’s family and plan to marry after the Olympic games in two years, which they plan to be their final competition. Silvia has upgraded from her at home sewing machine to a little studio, her designs are now sold in a local boutique and she still does a lot of commission work.
