Ada is a grandmother. Charlotte and Ravi have had a daughter this year, born in April. Ravi is proving to be a very hands-on parent, and is eager for the baby to become interested in kids’ shows and bedtime stories. He is already planning his performance of the classic fairytales. Charlotte is quite happy with this phase, as caring for her daughter is much easier when she can’t move. Her experiences with her little sisters have already taught her that the trouble starts when the crawling does.

Max has achieved his long-held ambition to move back home and has renewed his relationship with his father. Leo’s life, as always, has revolved around work but his life outside the office has grown ever more insular and lonely. Max’s arrival has been a very welcome surprise and the two men have forged a strong bond, less like father and son and more like a friendship with a large age gap. Leo has been successful in persuading Max to publish his first book.

Back in New Zealand, Ada’s little girls are suddenly not so little. Katia has decided she wants to spread her wings and train to be a pilot, a career path requiring an eye-watering cash injection, but Jude is gathering all his resources to make it happen. Ellie has decided that her future lies with animals and wants to be a vet. As for Summer, in keeping with her name, she has no ambition except to lie in the grass and let the sun shine on her.

Jules and Ema are still enjoying life in Slovenia. Their eldest daughter Danica has settled in London and is working her way up the ladder of academia, intending to become a professor. Their youngest Piper also has her eyes set abroad, although in her case she only intends to move a short distance across the border to Trieste, so that she can live by the sea. She would like to open a tattoo parlour. By contrast Robin is very settled at home and would like to become a property developer, although he’s still working out the logistics. For now he has followed his father into the construction sector.

Luca and Sophie are still heads of a harmonious home. Jeanne and Arthur are excelling at school and are on track to academic careers. Jeanne is considering social work while Arthur is drawn to medicine. Martin is the sportsman of the family and significantly less interested in homework, but makes up for it with great sociability, and Luca is quietly confident that his personality will open doors even if his future exam results don’t.

Marcel and Rachel have had another son. This will be their last child as they both find balancing family life with their careers to be difficult. Joseph has come to share his father’s long-standing love of cars, particularly vintage models, and their favourite bonding activity is to visit classic car shows together. The youngest member of the family has also been included of late and showed great interest in the 1967 VW camper van, which bodes well. By contrast, Rachel’s only daughter Victoria is proving to have little in common with her mother. Although she lacks her brother’s interest in cars, she enjoys skateboarding and firmly rejects anything feminine – to the point of wearing trousers to school and crying when compelled to wear a dress to any formal event – which leaves her traditional mother very distressed and confused.

Oscar and Aimee are rushed off their feet with four children, including two very active ones. Annalise has stated her intention to become an Olympic swimmer, whilst Charlie is crazy about football and wants to be a goalkeeper. Their younger daughters are a precocious four year old who has a habit of pretending she knows everything, and refusing to admit if she might be mistaken, and a two year old who is surprisingly the quietest of the family – as long as she isn’t denied chocolate biscuits.

Beatrice and Henrik have had another daughter, an absolutely adorable little girl with big brown eyes and a permanent smile. Saga is very proud to be her older sister and enjoys showing her off. She has decided that her future lies on the stage and enjoys making up stories based on the cartoons she watches on TV.

To match her father’s name, Charlotte and Ravi’s DD has a name which means ‘moon’ and her middle name relates to spring.

After Rachel named their first two children, Marcel got to decide on the third. His and Rachel’s DS has a modern first name and a consistently popular and timeless middle name.

Oscar and Aimee’s DD1 has a first name which is the feminine form of a Roman emperor’s name and her middle name is derived from a colour.

---

Oscar and Aimee’s DD2 has a first name from Greek mythology and a middle name shared with a literary heroine.

---

Beatrice and Henrik’s DD is the reverse of her sister with a short Italian first name and longer Scandinavian middle name.
