Help[Opinions] Cleopatra?
1. What do you think of this name? (Is it beautiful or ugly, too long or too weird etc.?)
2. Is it usable today? How would you react if you met a little girl called Cleopatra? Do you think it will age well?
3. What names do you think match with Cleopatra to make combos?

1. Pretty, but too wierd. It's long and has a lot of baggage with the name. I think it sounds too stuffy on a person today, and I loathe the nickname Cleo.
2. Not for me. I'd think her parents were weird, to tell the truth. And I want to name a child Delphine! Celopatra has a ton of history attached to it, and I wouldn't like it on a child. I can't see it on any person, any age, so I don't know how it would age!
3. No ideas, I could never use it. The only time I'd consider it would be as a middle name.

I think its pretty but i would rather go with Cleo, i think its beautiful.

2. To me, it's completely unusable. As pretty as it is and as awesome a namesake Queen Cleopatra would be, I think it would be extremely tacky and prentious to call your child Cleopatra. It's just one of those "huge" names that I can't imagine on anyone else than on the Egyptian queen. I could tolerate it as a MN, but definitely not as a FN.

It does sound awfully pretentious and I can't really imagine it on anyone besides the Egyptian Queen.

I don't think it would be tacky, however I do agree that it might be somewhat pretentious, and that it is definitely a 'huge' name.
Yes, I think I would only use it as a middle name, with a more simple first name.

1. I think it's a bit of a Madonna name; there's one Cleopatra, and everyone else sounds a bit silly with the name. You need some serious style to pull this one off. I do, however, love Cleo, Clea (CLEE-ah), Cleone (CLEE-oh-nee), and Cleona (clee-OH-nah).
Cleopatra's nice--I won't fault that--but I do wonder if it's a bit much as a first name. It probably is a 'one person name' even though there was more than one queen with the name. However I do like Cleo, Clea, Cleone and Cleona, thanks for suggesting them!
Actually, I would probably only have the 'guts' to use it as a middle name - I like Jane Cleopatra & Simone Cleopatra. I also like Cleopatra Simone & Cleopatra Ruth, thanks!

The name is not really my style, and it's too much, I think, but as long as she has a nickname it's fine. And she will have to have a nickname and use it all the time. If I met a little girl named Cleopatra I'd be surprised first, and then I'd think it's cool (for someone else's kid only, and as long as it fits her). As a nickname, I'd call her Cleo, but if she doesn't like it then Pat or Petra.
I don't know about middle names. Where I live people have no middle names as often as not, and I think they're kind of unnecessary. Nobody knows anyone else's middle name.
