[Opinions] Salamanca...
This is a name from the book "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. Her nickname is Sal. I think this is an awesome name. WDYT?
I also like the name Scout from "To Kill a Mockingbird". Are there any names you like because they appear in books?http://www.GlitterMaker.com/ - Glitter Graphicshttp://www.GlitterMaker.com/ - Glitter Graphics

Salamanca is nms, but I did read the book a long time ago. I enjoyed it. Another book that I read a long time had a female protagonist named Nyle. I thought that it was a nice name.

Salamanca I just don't like. There is a city close to Buffalo called Salamanca I believe and we get commercials from there all the time and as soon as I saw the name I thought of one "Salamanca Mall Antiques". Just a bad association for me sorry. Kind of makes me think of Salamander. I could see it having HUGE teasing potential. _______________________________________________________

Salamanca is a city in Spain with a very rich history. I can't really see it as a given name. As for other names in books, my favorite girls' name, Larisa came from a book. ¡VIVA ESPAÑA!

I don't like Salamanca. I do like Scout.
I like Harper, after Harper Lee. Katie Scarlett, Careen and Melanie from Gone with the Wind, though I know a TON of Melanies and would probably never use the name. Meggie from The Thornbirds.

Salamanca reminds me of Salamanda! But it does sound cool
Names I would consider using because they are from books:
- Scout
- Ophelia (Hamlet)
- Gemma (A Great and Terrible Beauty)
- Hermione (Harry Potter)
- Arwen (LOTR)
- Lilith or Delilah (the Bible...I am not Christian but I see them as strong women who questioned authority and conformity)I am more inclined to name for female authors I admire though such as Harriet Beecher Stowe, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Christine de Pizan and Margaret Atwood.
